FAQ

Senddio vs Courier — FAQ

Senddio is infrastructure: it owns the email engine, the IPs, the channel credentials, and routes the message end-to-end. Courier is a routing layer: it sits between your application and your existing providers (SendGrid, Twilio, Firebase) and adds preference management and notification design. Senddio simplifies the vendor stack; Courier adds intelligence on top of an existing one.

Senddio handles per-channel suppressions and unsubscribes via API, and surfaces them in the dashboard. It does not ship a hosted, user-facing preference centre UI out of the box. If an embedded preference UI for end-users is a core requirement, Courier has an advantage there.

Courier is usage-based — you pay per notification sent above the free tier. At moderate volumes (50,000+ notifications a month) Courier costs can exceed Senddio Pro at $79/mo. Senddio's flat plan covers 150,000 emails and all channels with no per-send metering.

Senddio ships a Claude MCP server and OpenAI function-calling tools: an AI agent can call senddio_send, senddio_list_messages, senddio_get_status directly. Every agent send is tagged with the agent name in the audit log. Courier does not publish equivalent AI-agent connectors today.

If your providers are used for email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, Slack or Telegram transactional sends, yes. One Senddio account replaces the provider stack and the routing layer. The one thing you lose is Courier's visual notification designer and preference centre — useful only if your team relies on those specific features.
